I am a yarn snob.
I love high end luxury yarns that feel like smooshy deliciousness in my hands, and drape like silk in the wind, or feel like cashmere on my cheeks.
I do not like acrylic yarn. Period. Red Heart Super Saver is good for dog toys and mud room shoe wipe mats, and as lifelines for lacework. Ok, maybe I've used it in a cheap pom pom or two because theres no way I'd cut Lornas Laces into little pieces like that. No Sir-ee-bob.
So, I love Vickie Howell in all of her craftiness, and when I saw that she had put her name on a cheap mostly acrylic yarn, I wanted to give it a shot.
I was quite pleasantly surprised to find a softness that reminded me of a MUCH pricier merino, a drape that was very beautiful, colors that are rich and saturated, and just overall a really nice little yarn.
A big bang for your buck, if you will.
I used a bunch of it to make a nice little lap blanket, and some to make a pair of wrist warmers, and I'm absolutely going to be stocking up for future use. I would not call this a worsted, but a heavy worsted. It will knit up dense and thick if you want it to, but it will have less drape this way. I'd stick to patterns which use a larger needle size (say, 9 or larger) and have some fun with it.

Considering I reserve 5 stars for natural fibers only, this is as good as Acrylic gets.
(and yes, I know it's 30% wool. But it's also 70% Acrylic.)
